Mylan Pharmaceuticals claims that suppliers and middlemen have forced the company to increase the price of EpiPens by hundreds of dollars; however, according to industry insiders, it only costs Mylan $30 per device. Some experts think the costs for Mylan are even lower, about $20 per EpiPen. So why are some patients being forced to pay more than $600 for a two-pack of the life-saving meds? Since acquiring the brand and hiking prices by over 400 percent, the company has faced harsh criticism from parents, consumer groups, and politicians.
