STORY: World leaders joined forces with some of today's biggest music stars to help end global poverty at the Global Citizen Festival on Saturday (September 27) in New York.

The star-studded concert held in Manhattan's Central Park was headline by rapper Jay Z with a surprise appearance by his wife, singer Beyonce. Others on the lineup included Sting, Carrie Underwood, Fun., The Roots, Alicia Keys and DJ Tiesto.

60,000 people loaded into the park for the event which is held as a campaign to end global poverty and bring essentials such as sanitation to all.

"Ever year this time the world comes to New York City. And this concert is all about giving back to the world. Whether you're here in Central Park or watching from somewhere else you are now part of the global fight to end extreme poverty. And this is a fight we can win," said U.S. President Obama in a videotaped message.
