Emmanuel Macron on violent video games

In an exclusive interview with Brut, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about children being addicted to violent video games.
This comes amid French lawmakers passing a bill to ban social media use for those under the age of 15, a move that the French President said was a way to protect children from excessive screen time. This makes France the second country to take such a step following Australia's ban for those under 16 years of age in December last year.

In India, Himachal Pradesh has ordered a complete ban on mobile phone use by students in all government and private schools from March 1, 2026, while Andhra Pradesh and Goa are studying proposals to restrict social media access for children under 16.

Maharashtra and Karnataka have set up task forces and initiated discussions on regulating minors’ social media use, but no bans have been implemented so far.
