Emma Watson: feminism is not man-hating

STORY: Actress Emma Watson, who rose to fame playing the feisty Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" films, has taken on a new role promoting women's rights as a U.N. ambassador.
On Saturday (September 20) the actress spoke at the United Nations to kick off the new initiative.
"This is the first campaign of its kind at the U.N. We want to try and galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for change and we don't just want to talk about it. We want to try and make sure that it's tangible. I was appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. Women six months ago. And the more I've spoke about feminism the more I've realized that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating," said Watson.
Watson will advocate for the HeForShe campaign, which encourages men and boys to speak out in support of gender equality. The 24-year-old has been involved in the promotion of girls' education for severa
