this was written awhile ago, i don't remember when. every so often though.. the feeling remains and resurfaces... thankfully not all the time but often enough ...

lonely is as lonely does
we are all alone in this
world.

only sporadically are we touched
upon by others in our lives
whether that is in thought,
in creed, or by touch.

smiles that come few
and far between
to join us in shared
harmony.

sometimes, only sometimes
is the look, the touch,
very rarely, the words
that make the one difference.

we, none of us, want that
understanding, tho' we yearn
for it, tho' we crave it
it in turn will create yet
another vacuum of expectation
in an empty shell.
