Description

You are unbreakable.
Your will is steel.
Your resolve - unwavering.
You don’t look back;
how could you?
I look back for you -
and it hurts me.
You look at yourself in the mirror
but you don’t see who you are.
You can’t let yourself.
I understand.
So I look at you.
I see you,
and it hurts me.
I see everything - I allow myself to.
You have talent,
you have passion,
you have wit,
you have character -
beyond that of even the most
talented,
passionate,
witty,
and good.
You could be so much more.
And it hurts me.
I see you.
I know it.
And I want to cry for you.
I want tears to be shed on your behalf -
tears I know you will never shed for yourself.
I wish you would let yourself see yourself the way I do - the ways everyone does.
Then you’d know.
You already know.
Then you’d do something.
Or would you?
You are so much - so much.
And all I can do is stand here, talking
at nothing.
Because you aren’t here anymore.
Sure your face is - your hands, arms, legs, body -
but you aren’t here.
How could you be?
It would hurt too much.
So I hurt for you.
I cry for you.
I cry in vain for you
because your mirror is cracked.
It has been for a long time.
