Elton John is a dad!

Elton John and his partner David Furnish have become the proud parents of a baby boy.

Their new son, named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born to a surrogate in California on Christmas Day.

The baby boy is the first child for the couple, who have been together since the early 1990s and have spoken openly about their desire to adopt.

Speaking to US Weekly, the pair said: "We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment. Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."

The couple had previously tried to adopt an orphan in Ukraine last year, but were thwarted by government regulations.
