Tell me what you see;
under the arms of the black pine tree
and all its majesty.
Half in the light of the yellow sun;
half in the shadow of the darkened dawn.
No rose or vine adorns a branch;
nor does the feet of a cheerful bird
mount it.

So tell me what you see;
under the arms of the black pine tree
and all its purpled leaves.
Caressed by the winds of summer's breath;
bitten by the frost of winter's scorn.
No snow or rain can dry its bark;
nor can the years with change
age it.
