Elizabeth Russell - Marwee

Description
Who has spent her whole life loving us
Is dying
Her heart which has loved so freely
For so long
Is weakening
At least I know she is
Not dying
From a broken heart
No little ‘Chinowna’
Has ever been loved more
She is dying from a life
Well lived
Very few smells have gone by unsniffed
No beaches and parks remain
Unexplored
She has slept with her humans almost
Every night since she was born
Her short brown coat
Shedding short brown hairs
In our bed
Her size belied
The immeasurable gift of unconditional love
She gave to her family
She never cared
What we looked like
Or what our jobs were
Or how much money we had in the bank
We always had ‘abundance’
When she was with us
But none of that mattered
To her
She just – loved
