In Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, on February 17, 1991, Ed Sheeran was born. He started playing the guitar when he was young, demonstrating early promise as a musical genius. Sheeran first became inspired when he was 11 and met Damien Rice, a singer-songwriter, backstage at one of Rice's performances. According to the legend, Sheeran was instructed by Rice to compose his own music, and the next day, Sheeran went out to do just that.
Guitarist and songwriter Ed Sheeran got his start singing and writing songs at an early age. He relocated to London as a teenager to pursue his music career, and his prolific output resulted in numerous early EPs and hundreds of live performances. Sheeran gained fame for his online performances and debuted at the top of the iTunes chart before joining a record company. Sheeran has sold millions of copies since signing with Atlantic, and his 2018 album, which includes the singles "Thinking Out Loud" and "Shape of You," earned a Grammy.
