Ecuador: Highway Plans Questioned

In the Tacuma province of Ecuador, a proposal by local governments to build a highway in the Amazon region has been rejected by national authorities on the grounds that the highway will cause environmental destruction to the region. Locao communities hav expressed their need to be in touch with other communities, but some say there are better ways to achieve this goal.
