Ecuador and Colombia Deepen Cooperation

The presidents of Ecuador and Colombia are holding a bilateral meeting Monday. The meeting reflects the deepening of links between the neighbours after relations soured at the turn of the decade.
Ecuador and Colombia restored diplomatic relations in 2010 after breaking them off when Colombia violated Ecuador's territory and bombed a campsite of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
Ecuadorean President Correa said, "these meetings prove that we can work together for mutual interest.” Upon arriving in Ecuador, Colombian President Santos said that relations between the countries have never been better and that “the people benefit” when the two countries maintain close communication.
