I actually praise the movies for straying from the roots as much as possible. Comics are not written for the big screen and changes like those Tim Burton made to make the batman story fit the big screen in his rage and willingness to kill the joker fit much better in film. In nolans films Batman Spares the joker after his actions lead to the death of the love of his life. In comics you have time to develop that story further, but in fim its a contained story and it feels weird that the joker is just left alive at the end. As for Bane's voice i thought it was intimidating and that all the imitations made people think it was silly. I mean would you say Darth Vader's voice is silly? To me Rises is much much better than Batman begins as a big screen picture, but to each his own.
