Description
Her shadow
ran after her
forever trying
to keep up
scattering itself
across a wall
becoming now
a bird
now a mythical creature
now nothing so much
at all
except a cubist
sculpture.
At night she
removed her clothes
carefully one by one
folding them
slipping them over
the bedside chair.
Lastly she reached
to her feet
& unclasped
her shadow
peeled it off
laid it over her
other outer garments.
Her shadow
dreamed all night
of becoming her
(eager for the morning)
her shadow
listened all night
to her breathing.
Her shadow
was a little in love
with me
kept falling across me
accidentally on purpose
any chance
it could get.
It was a pity
as she
couldn’t stand me
herself.
