Dónall Dempsey - SEPERATE WAYS(for Al)

It was one of those days
when I & my(self)

parted

...went our separate ways.

I climbed back inside
the mirror

(& hid) .

My reflection took my place
& did the things I did
.
...only better!

Bloody... show off!

I climbed back inside
the refrigeator

(& hid)

at the back with the mouldy cheese

sour milk
two mummified grapes
& some yellow shrivelled peppers.

I waited for the light
to go out

& froze

in the icebox with the other
ice cubes.

It was so...bloody cold!

I climbed back inside
the painting

of me
in oils

tried to inhabit
the paint

as it was when first
the paint was applied

(oh that first burshstroke!)

but my desire had dried
stillter than still

...life.

It was so.... bloody quiet!

I climbed back inside
an old photograph of me

when I could still smile

but that me wasn't the me
I am now

& the photo said:
'Do I...know you...do I...
want to know you? '

It was so...bloody black & white!

I talked to the phone
but it wouldn't talk back to me.

Even the talking clock
refused to answer me.

Even my tears
refused to have

... anything to do with me.

Bloody Hell!
