As if a sentinel
your nipple
like a great eye

watches
me awake
as you still sleep

I stare
into its unflinching gaze
your nipple & I
eye to eye

you move
through dreams
and your nipple
takes on a life of its own

seeming to say:
'Just you watch it mate
I'm keeping an eye
on you...
...you lay one hand
on her
& I'll have you! '

I drift
back to sleep
under the biligerent
eye of your nipple
smile as I
find you in my dream
