that impish smile
you smile as you straighten your skirt
your laughter
tinkling amongst the clink of glasses
knocked over & spilt.
The Present
eager to forget you
& become a Future
that lives
without you.
The Present is
upset.
It tries to be
itself
& erases the Past
wherever it finds it.
But memory
puts everything back
just as
it was
as it
is.
