The city flashes past,
Burning in the blast,
The earth shatters down below,
Time moves by, painfully slow,
Bullets fly,
People die,
And all I wanted,
Was to say goodbye.

And the men in suits,
Wearing snake skin boots,
Wearing silver chains,
Watch the show,
Through their window panes.

He soars above,
Heart wrenched with love,
He seeks to save,
An eternal slave,
Draped in red and blue,
To rescue you.
No one loves Superman anymore,
The darkest hour is in store,
Hide within your own fears,
Lurking in shadows,
Coated in your past years.

So now you bleed
Out every need,
To be free of the hurt,
Stop being shoved in the dirt,
Superman can't save you now,
He has become another cow,
He has lost his way,
Fattened by TV and McDonalds,
Kryptonite is the modern day.

One day we will need him again,
The man who is our hero,
Who is our true friend.
Darkest Night, Brightest Day,
Superman is on his way!
