Dr. Farahat 1935 Beach scene

This is a clip from Taheya Carioca's first film Dr. Farahat, before she was known as Taheya Carioca. She was still a teen ager at the time and is credited in the film as Taheya Mohamed. The part of her friend Nouna is played by another dancer named Amina Mohamed. She too worked at Badia Masabni's nightclub and one of her performance numbers included a dance with a live snake. However, there is no bellydancing in this movie. The film is about a man named Farahat and his dorky, not too bright friend who are paid to masquerade as a famous doctor named Dr. Helmy. The two girls, who are under the impression that he is the famous Dr. Helmy and assistant, invite them to the beach where they tease them mercilessly and take advantage of the pair's gullibility.
