DR Congo split over conflict solution
16 Views • Aug 22, 2012
Description
Some politicians want a negotiated ceasefire while others favour an armed solution.
The clashes erupted after hundreds of troops defected from the army over low wages and poor living conditions. The fighting has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes to neighbouring countries.
The rebel troops are thought to be fighting with support from other armed opposition groups in the region.
Al Jazeera's Nazanine Moshiri reports from Ruchuru in eastern DR Congo on how civilians are caught in the conflict.
