Doom 3 Gamepad Testing using Several KB+M Programs
94 Views • Jan 26, 2015
Description
I ended up playing through the main Doom 3 campaign using antimicro recently and it worked fairly well. I had played some Doom 3 mods using QJoyPad years ago and it was doable with a little bit of work; I don't think I played through the main campaign using QJoyPad back then but I am not sure. The mouse movement with xboxdrv is too loose for my liking even when using a low mouse speed. Xpadder works okay but the mouse movement is a bit jumpy thanks to the exponential acceleration curve. The mouse movement in PGP makes using a gamepad in Doom 3 really hard. Precision aiming is out of the question without severely slowing the joystick sensitivity and sacrificing turning speed. Even then, it doesn't affect the low end of the stick too much compared to the high end.
My list of preferences based on in-game controls: antimicro, QJoyPad, Xpadder, xboxdrv, PGP.
I screwed up when editing this video. A couple of transitions are messed up. I will try to do better next time.
