Donna Summer dies at 63; Adele honored again

Donna Summer, whose music dominated the 1970s disco era, died of cancer on Thursday (May 17) at age 63, leaving a legacy of hit singles like "Love to Love You Baby," "Last Dance" and "Bad Girls."

Summer, who won five Grammys and sold more than 130 million records worldwide, died surrounded by her family in Naples, Florida.

The second masseur who accused John Travolta of sexual battery dropped his lawsuit against the Hollywood star on Thursday and hired celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, who said she may file a new complaint in a different court.

Travolta's lawyer has vehemently denied all the claims against the actor since the scandal erupted this month.

British singer Adele won two Ivor Novello awards for songwriting, adding to a lengthening list of musical accolades. The 24-year-old chart queen picked up two coveted prizes for the most performed song of 2011 ("Rolling in the Deep") and for songwriter of the year.

The stars of new animated DreamWorks feature "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" arrived at the 65th Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 17) to present the newest installment of the successful series. Hollywood traditionally comes to Cannes with a big-budget blockbuster, and the 3D animated adventure is a welcome diversion from the more heavy weight movies mainly featured in the competition.

Hollywood A-lister Ben Stiller joined co-stars Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith on the red carpet.
