Donna Earle - Bound

She was captured by the looks he slanted at her,
Bound by shining love she thought she had,
Held by dancing promises in dark eyes,
Why then was she ever sad.
Bound to an image made of empty promise,
Bound to a love never meant to stay,
Prisoner of sweet and false wanting,
A longing urge to be swept away.
Bound because she's tired of the morning,
And the afternoon is only time for sleep,
When the night comes in its velvet starlight paper,
She is bound by a destiny to keep.
She has promised to find love that holds her lovely,
A desire that takes her breath away,
And she thought he was her darling angel lover,
He had come on a purple flower day.
But he wronged her and she's bound by pain and passion,
She has cast aside all things she's ever known,
Now she sleeps the stardust sleep of the forgotten,
She's bound to always be alone.
