Done Accepting Double Standards

Anger often gets dismissed as something to suppress, but sometimes it’s a signal—one that tells you a boundary has been crossed too many times.

This message is for anyone who has been consistently critiqued by someone who refuses self-examination. Where your flaws are magnified, dissected, and used against you, while their own behavior remains untouchable. That dynamic isn’t honesty. It’s imbalance.

Accountability loses its meaning when it only flows in one direction. Growth cannot happen where reflection is avoided. And respect erodes when criticism becomes a weapon rather than a tool for understanding.

Choosing to call out hypocrisy doesn’t mean you think you’re perfect. It means you’re no longer willing to carry responsibility for someone else’s unresolved issues. It means you recognize that self-improvement doesn’t require self-erasure.

If you’re stepping away from people who demand perfection from you while excusing everything in themselves, you are not being cruel. You are protecting your integrity.

You are allowed to expect the same standards you’re held to.
You are allowed to say “enough.”
And you are allowed to choose environments where accountability is shared, not imposed.
