transcript of video:
Hi, I'm Rachel Greenwald, author of "Have Him At Hello," with Ask YourTango.
Today's question is, "Should I send a 'thank you' email or text after a first date?"
No. You should absolutely not send a thank you email or text after the date.
I wondered this myself and so I conducted a national research poll. I interviewed over a thousand single men and ask them a lot of very detailed dating questions.
And the response they gave to this one was that they like to do the pursuing. And a 'thank you' email or text is a subtle form of pursuing them.
Now, at the same time, men might say they appreciate it.
It makes them feel good to get that 'thank you' email or text, but don't confuse what they think is nice and makes them feel good with what ignites their desire to pursue you.
Of course, you should thank him graciously and profusely at the end of the date the night before.
Men want to know that you appreciate the fact that they paid for dinner, they selected the restaurant...whatever it is about the date, thank him that night.
Sending a text is like men reading the last page of a mystery novel. They know how it's going to turn out.
They know you like them.
They aren't going to get the butterflies in their stomach, wondering if you're going to say yes or no.
That email or text was your signal that you are definitely interested.
So, the bottom line: keep 'em guessing if you wanna keep 'em.
