don't ever ask - what used to be

Come look into my eyes,
What do you see?
Is it my soul seeking for thee?
Or is it just me?
The seconds stand still,
They seem reluctant to pass,
As timeless wait,
A painful pain.
I’m warm in this cold night,
And I remember those times,
In which warmth was unimportant,
As long as I had your face,
Your smile.
I seek for those nights,
In which a cold drink,
Was but an item
And the colder wind,
Was an excuse.
I seek for the music,
You used to play,
For the songs and the lyrics,
For the laughs and the smiles,
For the broken glasses
And the unlit room.
I seek for the flickering candle,
I never lit,
And I seek for the hug,
I never gave,
Had I a chance again,
I would do the exact same thing,
But I would not let you go,
So far away from me.
