A critical Navy server that manages sailor pay and promotion data remains vulnerable after the Department of Government Efficiency abruptly canceled a cloud transfer contract, according to Benzinga. Earlier this month, DOGE canceled a $170 million contract with Pantheon, which was meant to move Navy personnel data to a secure cloud platform and protect a key data center in Tennessee. A senior official warned that without this transfer, a disaster could severely disrupt access to the Navy’s HR portal and delay sailor promotions for up to 16 months, according to Military.com. Although DOGE cited cost-saving efforts as the reason for the contract cancellation, insiders say the decision was misguided and poorly executed.
