Description
The INNERview Ep162 K. Chae, a photographer who captures fleeting moments as colorful photographs 화려한 색감으로 영원하지 않은 순간을 포착하다! 전 세계를 누비는 길 위의 사진작가, 케이채!
K. Chae began his journey around the world in 2009 to capture the beautiful, fleeting moments in everyday life on his camera. Then, in May 2012, he founded Bittarae in Mullae-dong, Seoul to bring the art of photography closer to the general public. Found in a place where there is a harmonious coexistence of the arts and ironworks, Bittarae welcomes all types of visitors with free admission and coffㅋee.
K. Chae, who has traveled to 50 different countries over the past decade or so, stated that the most memorable places were Africa, which he described as a colorful continent, and Asia, where he traveled for 101 days. He said that while observing the people of Africa, he became more of an optimist and had a chance to engage in introspection. He also described his "Pieces of Earth" series centering on Cambodia, Portugal and Cuba, and explained the meaning behind the title, emphasizing that what he was essentially doing as a photographer was collecting different pieces of the Earth.
After naming Elliott Erwitt and Willy Ronis as photographers who had the greatest influence on him, K. Chae reiterated that he does not wish to be categorized as a travel photographer as his purpose extends far beyond simply documenting his travels. Also, with a determination to make the art of photography more accessible to the masses, he has been displaying his works at a cafe in Jongno and at flea markets among other efforts.
Join us this week on The INNERview to meet photographer K. Chae, who has been capturing the beautiful moments of the everyday life while respecting his animate and non-animate subjects based on his philosophy that "good people take good photographs."
