DirecTV’s NFL Deal Renewed
Description
DirecTV has secured a multiyear agreement to continue broadcasting the National Football League's (NFL) "Sunday Ticket" to commercial venues like bars and restaurants. The deal, the financial details remain undisclosed, will take effect from the 2023 season. The rights to broadcast the "Sunday Ticket" were sold earlier in the year to EverPass Media, a joint venture owned by RedBird Capital Partners and the NFL. This new agreement allows DirecTV to utilize its satellite TV network to connect "Sunday Ticket" to commercial establishments across the U.S. Notably, the deal doesn't guarantee exclusivity, allowing EverPass to potentially negotiate separate agreements with other providers. DirecTV, co-owned by TPG and AT&T, has been the exclusive provider of "Sunday Ticket" since 1994.
