Scanners can be of two type linear or 2D ,scanner which read linear barcode are linear barcode scanner and which read 2D barcode are 2D barcode scanner . But the latest barcode scanners are suitable for both linear as well as 2D barcode. It works by directing a beam of light on the barcode and read the details from the barcode.
