Dick Holmes - Ghost Writer

When I took on the job of being
the ghost writer of my own biography, I
didn't realize how complicated things would get.
By definition, a ghost writer is the
invisible writer behind the visible one,
but in this case the visible and the invisible
were actually one and the same, so while
ordinarily in a co-writing project
two heads are better than one,
here there was only one head, one that was
here one minute and gone the next.
It got so crazy that I finally decided
to call the whole thing off. Who needed
an autobiography ghost-written by
the subject of the work, anyway?
But I had to do something to fill the vacuum
created by the loss of my ghost writing job.
Looking through my things, I found my
long lost wooden flute and gourd shaker.
After a few moons of intensive practice,
I became a one-man powwow and forgot
all about my autobiography.
