Dewald Viljoen - Choices

Behind empty eyes,
in a restless mind,
thrown about in violent turmoil,
lives a vanquished soul.

It was placed there
not by love or indifference,
but by choice.
in dark corners,
surrounded by ink black thoughts,
it now resides,
always looking for a small ray of light
but never living in hope.
It has lost its will.
The urge to fight has settled.
