Pilgrims travel long distances tolerating many discomforts to take a holy bath in the sacred river at Kumbh mela. The normal Kumbh mela is celebrated after every three years; the Ardh (half) Kumbh mela takes place after every six years and the Purna (full) Kumbh mela that comes after every twelve years and there is the Maha (great) Kumbh Mela which come after twelve full Kumbh melas.
