I sit here thinking.
Listening to my hope.
Breathing in sharply.
My heart and mind elope.

Around me signs of pain.
Of sorrow and regret.
The pains of losing loved ones.
And being lost in debt.

This world my spirit dwells in.
Is drifting out to sea.
It’s leaders bought and paid for.
No one is truly free.

But around me I see smiles.
The occasional wink or glance.
That sets my mind on fire.
That tiny light of chance.

Maybe this day will be the one.
I see my dreams come true.
I never knew until right now.
That my dream was of you.
