Detainees defer entering plea

The five men accused of plotting the September 11th attacks appeared in front of a military tribunal Saturday in Guantanamo Bay Cuba.

But instead of answering when the judge asked them questions, they remained silent.

The five are charged with seven counts stemming from the 9/11 attacks including hijacking and terrorism.

All five defendants exercised their right to delay entering any plea.

During the recesses, the defendants prayed and chatted amongst themselves, and passed around a copy of The Economist magazine.

A group of people whose relatives died in the attacks were chosen by lottery to attend the proceedings.

The tribunal has been adjourned until June 12.
