DeSantis Breaks Twitter

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' announcement of his bid for the White House on Twitter was interrupted due to technical difficulties as hundreds of thousands of users logged on to the live stream event. Twitter has struggled with outages and other technical issues since Musk took over the platform and made cost-cutting measures, such as reducing server capacity. The event was relaunched after almost 30 minutes, and although fewer users could join, it concluded successfully. A former Twitter employee described Twitter Spaces as "janky" due to it being an unfinished "prototype" and being built on improperly integrated infrastructure. Some experts attributed the problem to the platform's infrastructure, which was not built to handle such high-scale traffic.
