Business Insider reports Artificial intelligence and machine learning may promise vast social benefits in governance, however, without regulation, they could damage democracy. Algorithms are especially useful in welfare states, where benefits can be delivered more efficiently. For example, Denmark is beginning to use algorithms to make its welfare state more efficient, but it does not seem to fully understand the dangerous potential.
