Dench: No plans to retire

She may be 77 but Dame Judi Dench has no plans to retire.

SOUNDBITE: Dame Judi Dench Asked If She Will Ever Retire, saying (English):

"No I don't want to retire and I don't like the word 'old' either. I just think you ought to go on if you've got the energy, if you have the energy anything is possible I think if you give up, then nothing presents itself to you any more."

The Oscar-winning actress braved London's below freezing temperatures on Tuesday (February 7) to attend the world premiere of her latest film.

She joins a ragtag bunch of pensioners who have their own agendas on why they're heading to India to stay in "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel", also the film's title.

Dench stars alongside Tom Wilkinson and Bill Nighy, who said his two-wheeled adventures throughout India was an occupational hazard - especially for Dame Judi.

SOUNDBITE: Bill Nighy On Experience Of Making Movie In India, saying (English) :

"It was a very good time, the focus of the movie for me was because I had to ride a motorcycle for the first time and I had to have Judi Dench on the back, sitting side saddle and I used to wake up every morning thinking - don't kill Judi Dench, because if you kill Judi Dench you can't go home any more, I mean if you killed The Queen you could probably sneak back into the country, but kill Judi Dench and it's over."

"Slumdog Millionaire" actor Dev Patel says working with some of the best in the business was like a good holiday.

SOUNDBITE: Dev Patel, saying (English):

"I just had to be a sponge on set and it really has been one of my most amazing experiences in my life, to have them all in this package deal has been amazing."

Dench is nominated for a best supporting actress BAFTA for her role in "My Week With Marilyn".

The awards are set to take place on Sunday (February 12).

As for the movie, "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" is due to open in the UK on February 24, and in the US in May.
