One year ago today, North Korea launched an artillery attack on the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong.
Four people died in the incident-- two civilians and two marines. Dozens of homes were destroyed.
Protesters gathered in Seoul to mark the one year anniversary-- burning North Korean flags and pictures of leader Kim Jong-il and his son and heir, Kim Jong-un
Demonstrators vowed revenge.
(SOUNDBITE) (Korean) PROTEST LEADER CHOO SEON-HEE SAYING:
"We will never forget our soldiers and civilians who were sacrificed on the day. We're here to pledge to definitely overthrow the North Korean regime ruled by Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un."
The North maintains the shelling on November 23 was in response to live artillery fire from the South into its waters.
North and South Korea are still technically at war as they have only signed an armistice to end their 1950-53 conflict.
