“1000 Hands” was founded in 2007 by Poy Chhunly under the aegis of Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) Association, as a vocational training program for students graduating from PPS Visual Arts School.
In 2007, “1000 Hands” was granted award by Cambofest (an international independent movie festival in Cambodia) for its first animated cartoon entitled “Little boy drinking bad water”, rewarded as the best animation film produced in Cambodia.

Nowadays, 1000 Hands is recognized for its work, and is considered as the major developer and producer of animation content in Cambodia. “1000 Hands” has a large number of non government clients, including UNICEF, Teuk Saat, Calmette Hospital, UNICEF and Oxfam Quebec, Apsara. Much of its work has involved creating awareness-raising cartoons relating to health and safety and human rights.
