Demand for new Indian state continues

The Indian government has released a long-awaited panel report recommending that the state of Andra Pradesh should stay as it is rather than be split in two.

Campaigners have fought for decades for a separate state, called Telengana, to be established.

The report offers six options and says the best way forward is to grant the region special economic and political powers.

But, as Al Jazeera's Sohail Rahman reports from Hyderabad, campaigners fighting for an autonomous state are not giving up.
