The Department of Police (DoP), also known as Delhi Police Delhi Police is one of the largest metropolitan police in the world. As of 2007, Delhi Police maintained 136 police stations across NCT. Despite this, Delhi Police has gained notoriety over the years because of Delhi's increasing crime rate. In 2007, the crime rate in Delhi stood at 357.2 cases per 100,000 people against a national average of 167.7 cases per 100,000 people.
