Description
A Man Recalled
- - - - - - - - - - -
When I looked back
Some events of yesteryears
Promptly act as mnemonics
I wrestle not, nor tease my reason
To recall that man nostalgic
It comes easy and so easy
That time seems amnesic
Of its own time sensitivity
And as if from that old position
It has shrunk not, nor stretched a bit
Hence my memory clasped it
Not far away and not short ago
A man I chanced to meet
In an old-structured building
That housed many offices with many a logo
And the building wore a pallid looking
Crown, cornice and eaves, weary of time
Seemed not in vitality to stay still
Hence crumbling slowly and softly
Forsaking the antiquity wistfully
Yet as usual businesses there went on well
The man I met was well past his noon
And the autumn was yet to set in
He was not good looking nor yet ugly
Tall, slender and his eyes looking shiny
His work was his monument
When asked to get a work done
Cast down his eyes demurely
To give greater effect to his work and said done
Subjected to self-mortification
He got lost in his work only
Over a cup of tea and ill-cut bread and butter filled
Over hours together settled in a corner lonely
He was a work-maniac or rather workaholic
His associates were right seemingly
Years slipped by
Flowers bloomed and withered
Seasons came stealing on
And well past him unknown
A lovely rhyme his baby rhymed
Whether had solaced him unknown
And the baby at his knee
Whence transformed to a man unknown
Work work work
He got lost in his work
Forgetting to redeem time
For moments of joy and mercy,
Love and prayer
And now he is no more
Leaving behind a legacy of work
As worship for all to think over………
