Dee Wright - ###### FIRST KISS(for W)

She leans against
the window

to cool herself

breathes upon the glass
to calm herself

& with a fingertip
writes: “Help! ”

And then once again
erases it with her breath

but it still shows through
like a ghost of itself.

She longs again
to look into his eyes

& finds she can’t
look him in the eye.

“Is this love? ”
she asks herself

as if she had forgotten
her line

& had to prompt herself
as he continues talking

not realising

the drama
that is being

enacted within her
self.

She closes
the curtains

lights
candles

& promises her self
she will kiss him

...now!
