A while ago we were happy,
I loved the way you smiled at me.
There's a light in your blood-shot eyes
I remember I used to see.

But last time you were here before
I couldn't look you in the eye
I sheepishly shifted my weight
Cos looking at you made me cry

I thought you were special,
I thought we were special

I loved the way you looked at me.
Discontented looks revealing
The truth is you and me can't be
Your half smiles are half concealing

I thought I was special,
We were never special

I loved the wink before you smiled
But it's been replaced by a frown.
Now I've got someone who beats you
For my heart, yes she wins hands down.

Me and her are special,
Much more special.
Now I know that happiness goes on.
