Nothing
is owed to us
Everything in this world
is presented as a gift
All of our life experiences
are a privilege
The breath that fills our lungs
Is the most treasured of gifts
Our ability to love
to be loved
to be in love
and make love
Personifies its utter beauty

When my soul awakens
From my restless slumber
Also
wakens the consciousness of my love
love of the morning sun
Or just my endless yawns
coughs and
scratches
