Debi Cimo - Statue in the Wilderness

I know these irretrievable faults falling
like exotic hands.
Now orange, now fuschia.
O, the indigo snakes that wrap you
in their death-embrace.
Vibrations of God and sky.
The world behind the shed-skins a vessel
tinkering with a featureless brain.
Pilgrim-child clumsy at the gate of
the wilderness.
Her fern matted, crumbling into a
wide gauze stripping the wind
like a paper shroud.
Snaps open to the reptilian eyelid.
Here wide, then narrow.
Camera-eye.
Thunder-claps into gorgonian wreaths.
Slams her into the violet serpent
wearing his own god.
