Description

The body of Gilberto Francisco Ramos Juarez was found in the Texas desert.

The boy's mother had begged him not to leave Guatemala with a people smuggler to make a new life in the United States.

His remains had lain there for two weeks before he was found.

Heat stroke was the most likely cause of death.

His father's just glad to get him back so at least he could have a decent burial.

(SOUNDBITE)(Spanish) FRANCISCO RAMOS, FATHER OF GILBERTO, SAYING:

"We are more than happy because we're always going to have his remains in the village (FRANCISCO RAMOS SAYS) but what would have happened if he'd stayed in the desert without us realising and without finding him? But now, thank God, we're going to take him to the cemetery in San Jose Las Flores."

Some reports put the boy's age at 11, other say he's 15. All agree he's the youngest of the hundreds of migrants to die trying to cross the border into the U.S.
