Deana Rode - (1999) Approaching the End

Could you explain the tear in my heart
or the pain in my mind
from my confusing world
that’s flipped upside-down
in a never ending circle
that begs me to find the exit

I hear your screams in dreams of black
and in nightmares of white
telling me of the predictable end
that we cover with our lips
and bury with our vows
for we know (or did we?) that promises stay
and nobody ever breaks a compromise.
