Dean Bottomley - Alone in Hell

When I traverse this God blest place in which I live;
A walk or ride through beauty so sublime.
I do not travel solo, with me you go:
To share the walk or ride two on a bike.


When you needed Dad and took him to your side
I felt the loss and could not understand.
You held my hand, kissed, and wiped my bitter tears.
Through all the pain I felt your presence near.


My mother ill, I faced alone the future.
Through unknown faces you showed me your love.
, On doorstep meals; a warm smile and friends that care.
You held me tight as I sobbed into sleep.


School brought success and joy, you gave many skills
That I could share and use to help my friends.
And even now you offer me such future:
A chance to hone and use God given gifts.


But still you bless me and offer me your joy
A wondrous boy with which to share my life.
Through him I see your love like through a window
And know how much that you have given me.


But Jesus they say you have never left me;
But I so hope that this cannot be true.
There are times that you must not have ever shared,
Screams, pain and tears of which you have no part.


My God my God why am I so forsaken
But in my heart I did not mean the words.
To know that you were witness to my suffering
Would be a burden I colud never bear.

Be by my side, no our sides, through all our lives
From meet to death through suffering and in joy.
Accept my praise and thanks for all your comfort;
But promise me that I walked hell alone.
